Jack Straw Writers Program | 2026-2027

12 Bushwick Songwriters are teamed up with 12 regional writers from the Jack Straw Writers Program for 2026. We create 12 videos that team up the text with the song.

Seattle Children’s Theatre | 2026-2027

Bushwick partners for 5 special events

Bushwick and STYLE will present a Read-A-Loud of the events book and then work with those on hand to create a song inspired by that book! This is a fantastic interactive event for our young fans. See you at one or more of these 5 events!

Events will include

  • October – Leonardo! A Wonderful Show about a Terrible Monster
  • November – ‘Chicka Chicka Boom Boom: The Holiday Show
  • January – Twelve Kinds of Ice
  • February – Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, the Musical
  • April – The Gruffalo

2026 Great Minds

Optimism, Speculative Futures, and the Worlds We Dream Into Being

Join us this September for Great Minds: On Optimism, Speculative Futures, and the Worlds We Dream Into Being. We’re bringing together three brilliant voices in speculative fiction: Kira Jane Buxton (Hollow Kingdom), Kathleen Alcalá (Spirits of the Ordinary), and moderator Rashida J. Smith (aka author Jasmine Silvera) for a night about the futures we have the power to write. Expect a reading by SAL’s Youth Poet Laureate, performances by Bushwick BookClub Seattle, an audience Q&A, and a reading list to take home. Readers and writers alike are invited to imagine the worlds we dream into being.
