Parallel Universe

—

Glimmers on the horizon

Ocean burning into sky

My fever soars in suspended violent color

The last sight before I die

—

Where’s the home that I remember

Or the one I’ve never seen

Light’s just hanging, blurring abstract borders

Between this world and me

—

I try to forget

The sweetness of life on earth

While the ghosts of me flutter by

Still trying to prove my worth

—

The sunrise speaks in pieces of a pattern

That vanish toward infinity

My presence stranded, drifting between moments

Begging for immortality

—

I try to forget

The sweetness of life on earth

While the ghosts of me flutter by

Still trying to prove my worth

—

I repent nothing… was my stoic cry

I repent nothing… that’s how I survived

I repent nothing… a tear falls from my eye

I repent nothing… but it’s a lonely way to die

—

I try to forget

The sweetness of life on earth

While the ghosts of me flutter by

Still trying to prove my worth

—

Is this the moment

Of my exit or my birth

Will I live on, as a shadow or strange station

In a parallel universe

—

In a parallel universe

In a parallel universe

In a parallel universe

Someone tell me how the story goes

—

A shitty guy in the prime of his life

too in love with too many women

clutches his chest, takes his last breath

and in act one, we lose our main villain?

But we’re sadly never rid him?

—

No?

—

A little girl no one wants or likes

Somehow makes it to the after times.

How? It’s never explained –

Amnesia is blamed?

It’s such a surprise this dumb bitch survives,

probably it’s due to her throwing knives?

I guess I’ll never know.

—

Somebody tell me where this story goes

—

There’s this guy, he’s journalist

Well, not a journalist

He’s a paramedic, but he was a journalist

and he’s got a brother

who is also a journalist

You know what? Nothing ever comes of this.

“Nothing comes from nothing,” the saying goes.

—

Someone tell me…why this book won so many awards

—

What earns the museum’s attention?

Snow globes and cell phones and a weirdly long reflection on production.

—

Huh.

—

Characters connect for no reason,

plot lines don’t connect quite at all.

Please tell me this comic book’s relevant!

Why not just make the comic book? That actually seems like a much better book?

—

Someone tell me, someone must know

how did this book get its own tv show?

The best thing to come of reading this tripe

is the wonderful music you’ve made here tonight

—

Oh, here’s how it goes:

—

in times of loss and despair,

in times of horror and fear

of course, we grieve what is gone;

And we do something, while we’re still here.

So, make what you can while we’re in it –

Survival is Insufficient.
